Joakim Wangendahl

Joakim Wangendahl was born in 1962 in Karlskoga. In 1972 his family moved to Degerfors, were he began to play fotball and trumpet in Kommunala musikskolan.

He wanted to be a carpenter but his life, as well as the fotball, took an not expected direction.

During the years 79 -82 he studied at Kapellsbergs folkh.skola with Claes Strömblad,

82-88 Musikhögskolan in Göteborg with Bengt Eklund,

83-84 solokornettist in the Swedish Military band, Armens Musikpluton.

85-86 Falu Brassquintett

85-87 studying with Håkan Hardenberger and Bo Nilsson in Malmö.

88-89 Principal trumpet, Staatskapelle Weimar, Germany

89-90 Principal trumpet, Helsingborgs symfoniorkester

90- co-Principal Royal Opera orchestra, Hovkapellet,Stockholm

92 Joakim studied Alexandertechnic in London and 2003 Learningmethods in Stockholm.

2000 he studied with William Scarlett,Jay Friedman and Michael Mulcahy in Chicago.

1995 he joined the Trumpetensemble 'Ten of the best' , lead by Otto Sauter, where he`s been playing with Trumpeters like Allen Vizzutti, Bobby Shew, John Wallace, Pierre Thibaud, Thierry Caens, James Thompson, Erik Veldkamp, Miroslav Kejmar, Ingolf Burkhardt, Bob Lanese.

The ensemble is frequently on tour in Europe and Japan and has made numbers of recordings.

Joakim has been a member of the Stockholm Sinfonietta for almost 2 decades.

He is since 2004 teaching at the Royal Academy of Music In Stockholm.
